Verified Reviewer |Repeated Unresolved Requests for Trash Bin Pickup
- Stray bin in front of home for over a week; five calls since Feb 23 with no pickup.
- Promised removal on Mar 3 or 4-5; still there on Mar 6.
I am writing to formally request immediate action regarding a trash bin that does not belong to me and has remained in front of my home for more than a week and a half, despite multiple calls to your office.
Approximately three weeks ago, heavy rain caused flooding on our street, and a stray trash bin washed down the block, eventually stopping near my neighbors home. After it sat there for a week, I volunteered to contact Republic Services to request its removal.
Beginning on February 23, I made a total of five calls to your customer service line at 310217****:
February 23: I was told the bin would be picked up within 24 hours.
No pickup occurred.
February 25: I was told there was no record of my previous call, but that a pickup would be scheduled. Again, nothing happened.
February 26: I was told a complaint would be filed and someone would be sent out. No action followed.
February 27: I was informed that my earlier calls should have been forwarded to the distribution center. I was transferred, and the representative apologized and scheduled a pickup for March 3.
March 4: After yet another missed pickup, I called again, requested the distribution center directly, and spoke with a supervisor named ***, who assured me the bin would be removed on March 4 or March 5.
As of today, March 6, the bin is still in front of my home.
In addition to the repeated missed commitments, I was required to explain the entire situation during every call because no prior requests were documented.
This has been an extremely frustrating and time consuming experience, and it reflects poorly on the level of service and internal communication within your organization.
I trust that this is not representative of Republic Services standards, and I respectfully request that this matter be resolved immediately.
I also ask that you review the handling of my prior calls to ensure that future customers do not experience similar issues.
Thank you for your prompt attention. I look forward to confirmation that the bin has been removed.

I CALLED THREE TIMES TO HAVE MY DRYER (APPLIANCE) PICKED UP FROM CURB. I WAS TOLD TWICE THAT SOMEONE WOULD BE HERE TO PICK IT UP, THIRD CALL " HE'S ON HIS WAY".
SINCE IT HAD BEEN AT MY CURB FOR 4 DAYS I FINALLY TOOK IT BACK TO MY GARAGE.

I tried to contact Republic Service three times yesterday trying to cancel trash service because I sold my house on 5/9/26. I was transfered to a number.
I was put on hold twice for almost 30 minutes! No one picked up the phone
User's recommendation: When I first signed up with Republic Service, I got 2 trash pick up a week, one recycle pick up a week. The glass pick up was cancelled. Next trash pick up was reduced to once a week. The services provided were reduced but the price kept goiing up! What kind of logic is this!

My mother was a Republic Services customer until she recently died on 12/27/25. I logged into my mom's online account to terminate her trash pickup service and was unable to do that online, so I called them in January to cancel.
A nice woman on the phone assured me that she had put in for the cancellation, terminated her account, and arranged for the trash cans to be picked up (which they charge additionally for). Not sure why since they are at her house every week and the cans are their property, but she told me there is a fee for them to pick up their trash cans. I told her it seemed tacky charging a dead person to pick up Republic's property when they are there every week, and she told me to call back after I am charged and they might take it off. I was instructed to leave the cans out and they would be picked up on trash day.
I did this for two weeks and the cans were never picked up. The house is in an HOA and leaving cans out day and night is frowned upon. Today, it's 2/20/26, and the cans have never been picked up, still being charged for trash pickup that was canceled a month ago. Unprofessional, zero follow-through, and seems content with charging for things when they decide to actually do them, if they do.
My mom's house is now listed for sale and I can't just show up and leave trash cans out on the curb. I offered to drop their cans off, but they said that's not an option. Besides dealing with my mother's death, trying to get her estate in order and finances, I never imagined terminating trash service would be an issue, but I was wrong. Now I have to wait until Republic charges post to my mom's account, clears, and call them back to have it reversed along with having someone call me to pick up their cans and whatever they decide to tack on.
Republic has no customer service but is excellent as self-service.
No person should have to deal with this kind of crap customer service, let alone after losing a parent.

Preferred solution: Pick up your cans on your own dime , you pick up trash every week so why are you charging people to pick up your property? Refund the money you removed from my mothers account after it was closed.

I called your .service's requesting a cancellation of services on 29 March 2026. I have cleaned the containers and placed them in front of my domicile as requested by your operator.
They are still positioned there with no call from as to pickup date.
Again I am cancelling your residential service to me due to repeated failures to pick up refuse on scheduled days until the following week.
And extreme billing costs.

Believe it or not, they paid Google to hide the negative reviews from others in Google maps and only the person who posted can see the reviews.
Do NOT buy services from Republic. They do NOT care about your needs.
They only care about their business and MONEY and do whatever they want to do without considering your requests. They are a bully in the area. Selfish company. The customer service is RUDE.
They dont help solve your problem. Instead, they are impatient and just make some excuses to hang up the phone. They never call back when promised. They do not take the responsibility but kick it to someone else as a soccer.
I would give negative stars if there is an option. BTW, they made a loud noise in the early morning like at 2 or 3 am, bothering the neighborhood and refused to change schedule.

I want to preface this review by saying this is entirely about Republic Services' underhanded business practices and does not reflect on their route drivers, who have generally been reliable. I know this list is long, but in three years they’ve accumulated a lot of reasons to avoid doing business with them, such as:
1. Your rates will significantly increase every year on the anniversary of setting up service, but you won't find out until you get the 'annual' invoice.
2. They claim to give you the absolute best price they can, but if you attempt cancellation, they offer you a reduced rate. In other words, they are absolutely NOT giving you the best rate they can, so therefore are lying about their pricing. As an example, after my second yearly price increase, they gave me a reduced rate that was lower than the first yearly price increase.
3. If you get a reduced rate, you have to pay up front to get it, and if you decide to cancel anyway, they revoke that reduction even if it's a few weeks later. If you have autopay, you will still be charged for the prior increased rate anyway because:
4. When you set up autopay, the minute your invoice posts, your payment is automatically approved, so if you pay your bill prior to the scheduled autopay, you get charged again anyway (see #6). This, in turn, becomes a credit on your account because they don't reverse online transactions and you have to call and request a refund, which they only do by check. Also, they apply the reduced amount as the credit, not the increased charge.
5. They still charge you when they can't pick up due to adverse weather conditions. They also still charge you if they fail to pick up under normal conditions, and it's up to you to call and reschedule a pickup or get a credit on your account, though that takes the threat of cancellation, and they will try to use the bad weather excuse whenever they can. (see #8)
6. They claim their system takes 2-3 weeks to update, so changes to your account won't occur until then and won't be reflected on your invoices, and things like a cancelled autopay will still be active for that period. They also claim they can't make changes to their automated systems, which is another lie since they definitely will update invoices and contact you immediately if you owe them money.
7. They mislead, retain, and 'weaponize' information in order to counter complaints and/or shirk responsibility. There's absolutely nothing on their website regarding any of the information outlined in this list. The only way to get this info is gradually through a series of attempted issue resolutions (see #8). Or by reading this entire review LOL!
8. During calls, they implement psychological manipulation tactics, primarily in two ways: fast, unrelenting speech with constant interruptions when you are trying to talk (steamrolling), or attempted sympathy for their daily business struggles to make it seem personal so you forget they are a huge, faceless corporation that banks on their customers' ignorance and/or aversions to confounding CSR encounters. Also, it should be assumed you'll be on hold for at least 20 minutes any time you call in.
Republic Services' ethics are negligible at best. They are petty, deceitful, and it's quite clear they have little regard for their customers. In my own experience, it took getting the Better Business Bureau involved to get things sorted out because they won't work with you to resolve issues that negatively impact them financially and believe me, they cherish their money right down to the last penny. Thankfully, my bank and the BBB did the job Republic Services outright refused to do, and I was able to recover all funds owed to me.
I hope if you made it through this entire diatribe, it helps you in making your decision on whether or not to do business with them, to which I'd simply say, just don't! The end.

Kim was absolutely wonderful to work with! Such a fun, kind woman! She is great at her job and also very mindful about how to approach conversations and ask questions not to upset a customer.

- Missed weekly pickups for garbage and recyclables since April.
- Calling customer service is time-wasting and promises of pickup are not fulfilled.
Since starting this account in April, every week the company has failed to pick up either my garbage or recyclables. Calling is a waste of time.
I have had to wait more than 20 minutes twice. When someone does speak to you, a customer service rep will tell you a pickup will occur, and it doesn't happen.
